Step 1
In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
Step 2
Add chopped onion and garlic to the pot. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
Step 4
Add elbow macaroni to the pot. Stir well to ensure macaroni is submerged in the liquid.
Step 5
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until macaroni is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 6
Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve hot, topped with shredded cheddar cheese.
