Step 1
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Step 2
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

Pour in the beer and stir just until ingredients are combined. Don't overmix - the batter should be slightly lumpy.
Step 4
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Step 5
Melt the butter and pour evenly over the top of the batter.

Bake for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
