Step 1
For the grits: In a medium saucepan, bring water and milk to a boil. Slowly whisk in grits, reducing heat to low. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and creamy. Stir in cheddar cheese, butter, salt, and pepper. Keep warm.
