Step 1
Marinate chicken in yogurt, garam masala, cumin, salt, and pepper for at least 1 hour.
Step 2
In a large pan, melt 2 tbsp of butter, add finely chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until soft.
Step 3
Stir in tomato puree and spices, simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
Step 4
Grill marinated chicken until fully cooked and browned, approximately 10 minutes.
Step 5
Add grilled chicken to the tomato sauce, then mix in heavy cream and remaining butter. Cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 6
Cook basmati rice according to package instructions.
Step 7
Garnish butter chicken with cilantro and serve with basmati rice.
